  1. There were two chiefs coming a journey on horse back. It's coming from Enniscorthy they were, when suddenly they heard queer noises and fired into bushes on the roadside from where they heard the noises. They heard the loud scream of a child, and demanding the hider to come forth, they were surprised to see a woman with eight children. One lay dead behind the bushes however. This poor woman had heard the horses coming and had gone in hiding from terror from the English soldiers. One of the soldiers raised his gun to kill her and the others, but the other officer
