  1. There is a blessed well in a field at the back of Mr. Wickham's house.
    It is a small well at the bottom of a tree.
    Once a year an angel is supposed to be seen standing over the well. On this account Mr Wickham had it lined recently with bricks
    The water in it is very nice and is used for drinking etc.
    It is called St. Martin's well because St Martin is the Patron of Piercestown, and this well is right in the heart of the village
