- Candles were made in this locality about sixty years ago.
Tallow was used for the manufacture of them.
Two or three strands of cotton thread were twisted to form a wick which was dipped into the tallow, allowed to cool, dipped again and so on, until it was of the required thickness.
After making, they were put in a cool place to harden.
These candles were not white, but of a creamy colour.
Spinning and weaving were done in this locality.
Sheep were washed thoroughly and the fleece was allowed to dry on them before being sheared.
After shearing the wool was carded into soft rolls with a carding machine.
Next it was put on a spindle and the spinning wheel turned.
The carded wool formed threads. The(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
