- The old Forth National School was situated partly on the site where the present school now stands.
The front of it faced the South and the master's small house was attached to the East end of it.
Both house and school were slated.
William Mac Dermot from the Co. Carlow taught in this school.
The subjects he taught were, Geography, Grammar, Arithmetic, Writing, Dictation, Spellings and reading.
The boys learned book keeping. All those subjects were learned in English. Irish was not spoken by the master or pupils.
The writing was done mostly with slate pencils. Pens and pencils were also used.
An hour every evening was given to sewing. The big girls taught the small ones how to knit, sew and make garments.
