Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Wreck of the Mexico in Ballytiegue Bay on 14th Feb. 1914 during a gale of South wind and heavy seas.
    The schooner coming from Mexico, bound for Liverpool, with a cargo of Mahogany struck off the south of the Kerragh Islands one mile off the shore. The Fethard lifeboat put off to rescue the crew of the vessel, and while manuavering the lifeboat into position to take the crew of the vessel she was caught by heavy seas and dashed to pieces on the rocks.
    Nine of the lifeboat crew were drowned the remaining five men were rescued by the crew of the vessel by throwing them lifelines and hauling them on board the vessel. At low water that night the crew of the vessel and the five lifeboat men got ashore on the island and remained there until Monday 17th Feb. The Rosslare lifeboat, Dunmore lifeboat and Kilmore lifeboat were brought to their aid.
