“Long ago there lived a man in Lisnageeragh named John Macken...”
Long ago there lived a man in Lisnageeragh named John Macken and he had a forth on his land.
He had eight cows and every evening at a certain time he brought them into his yard to milk them. It happened every evening that one of the cows were missing and by the time he'd put them out in the field again, the missing cow was back and milked.
So this day John stayed in the field to watch the cow and see where she was going.
Towards evening he heard a fairy baby crying and its mother singing a lullaby and then she said "dont cry we will soon have some of John's cow's milk to feed you.
John knew then what was happening to his cow and he went home and never passed any more remarks and he became one of the richest farmers in the country.- Bailitheoir
