  1. Mr P. Murphy , Church Street, Edgeworthstown told me Owen Roe O'Neil fought his last battle in Kilsalla, near Edgeworthstown.
He fought the battle between two forts one Doyle's fort and the other was Mac Namara's fort.
Owen Roe O'Neill's sword is supposed to be still buried in Kilsalla bog.
The Danes made wine from the heather of the bog.
Major Harry Slator who was born in "White Hill" Edgeworthstown and went through the Great War during the years of 1914 to 1918 died about 13 years ago at his home in White Hill was buried in a vault in the family burial ground on his estate.
This was a custom of many of the old noted Irish Families.
His comrades who fought in the Great War put a remembrance wreath on the coffin on Armistice Day each year.
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
