- Churning is a most extraordinary scheme used in this country. Almost every farmer's (home) wife had a churn in her home. The churning is done about once a week. Long ago there were dash churns and at the (time) present time some old people use those still. Those churns were made of wood as those of the present day are also. There was a part the shape of a barrel for holding the cream a lid with a round hole in the centre. There was a dash with a long handle and a round head. The handle was put through the hole in the lid and lifted upwards(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
