- I never saw a béan sidhe but I often heard tell of one. There are certain families for whom she is supposed to cry. She is supposed to be a small woman. One night a man was coming from seeing a man named John Malone who was going to die. When he was coming home he heard a bean sidhe crying and he was not at home until the word came that the man was dead, and he had to go back.

- The meaning of the word béan sidhe is "Fairy woman" and tradition says that she cries before the death of a member of an old Irish family. Some people deny such a thing as the béan sidhe exists but there are numerous people on the other hand who firmly believe in her existence and tell of many occasions on which they have heard her.(continues on next page)
