- Long ago the people used to make laces out of flax.
First they pulled the flax and put it in a bog hole They left it there for several days till it was thoroughly soaked. Then they spread it out in the field to dry. They gathered it up in sheaves and they pulled a few strands out of the sheaves and put them on a piece of wood.
Then they would beat the strands with a mallet or a wooden hammer. It used to come out in strands when they would beat it. They would twist the strands together and then they would make laces of them
They used to rub the laces with oil or grease and then they would have laces that would last them for six months.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
