- In the time of the penal law in Ireland there was a priest whose name was Fr. Mc. Carthy. He went for lodging to a Protestant house one night. The man of the house gave the priest a room with a bed in it, and there was a ghost in the room too.
In the middle of the night the ghost appeared to the priest and began to torture him. The priest arose to get his stole and the ghost tried to stop him by a blaze around it.
The priest snatched it and put around his neck, and started to pray. For nearly an hour the Ghost was jumping round the priest. At last he lay down on the ground craving mercy. The priest took him out on the hall door and down to a little lake in front of the house.
Te priest settled him in the lake between the foam and the water for seven years. The ghost told the priest he would go back when the seven(continues on next page)- Collector
