  1. There was once a man who went to the fair of Cavan with a mare. It was midnight when he was coming home. The road was running parallel to the lake. The "Good people" as they were called had a tent along the road. They had a fair of horses.
    They stopped him and said "Paddy you didn't sell your mare". He said "No". They asked him would he sell her now. He said "Yes". He sold her for six guineas. When he was going into the tent to get paid he saw a jug full of water. He dipped his finger into it and rubbed it on his eye.
    He travelled on till he came to the Castle of Rosduff where the Landlord lived. He knocked at the door and told what had happened. The landlord weighed his money and told him it was all right.
