    In olden times the people had many strange cures for diseases. If you had the mumps a donkey's winkers would be put on you and you would be led round the pigsty in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. If you had warts you would have to lick a mankeeper. The cure for a sore throat was to roast potatoes and hold them to it. The cure for Pneumonia was a Linseed poltice. The cure for toothache was peper or ginger. If a child was born after it's fathers death it had the cure of the foulmouth
