In Soran there are only a few birds that migrate:- the swallow, the cuckoo and the corncrake.
The swallows gather together on the telegraph wires and they talk to each other. They say "Cip, cip, cip," which means "We will go south." If you see a row of swallows on the chimney it is said that a member of the house will go to a foreign land.
The cuckoo goes away in the end of August. She flies by night and when she reaches a village or a town she flies into an old barn or house.
