The blackbird and the thrush can prophecy the sort of Spring. If these birds are heard singing late in the winter it is a sign of a bad Spring.
I heard that this is how the robin got her red breast: When Our Lord was dying on the on the Cross the robin saw Him and was very sorry for Him. He flew to Our Lord's Head and tried to pull out a thorn. A drop of blood from Our Lord's Head fell on her breast and from that day the robin always has a red breast.
