  1. After the Battle of Ballinamuck there was a man who was about to be executed.
    An English officer came and said "I will spare your life if you fight a Horse Soldier"
    So this Irishman stood out in front of the horse soldier.
    The horse came galloping up to the man and the man gave the horse a dag (dig) of his pike in the breast.
    Then the horse reared up and the man cut the reins with the hook on his pike.
    Then the horse soldier lost his balence and the English officer bade the Irishman spare the horse soldiers life.
