- Marriage Customs long ago were quite different to what they are at the present time. Forty or fifty years ago when a young man was going to get married his friend began to look out for a suitable match for him and when they would think of a suitable match they would bring him to the house of the girl to make his match. Then they would bring a bottle of whiskey with them and when they treated the friends of the girl they would begin the match. Some of them would ask how much money could the girls father give her then when the amount of money was found out, they would ask for some stock and furniture and then after perhaps, a long night match-making they would finish(continues on next page)
