  1. Not long ago I heard this story told by the fire side on a winter's night. Once upon a time a boy was going to be married. His engagement was announced "but as the saying goes there is many a slip between the cup and the lip". But before he was married a war broke out and from the war broke out he never got a minutes ease because he was chased through the country by his enemies. So he could not dare stay at home or if he was got he would be shot and he had to stay out through the bogs and mountains for two years. So after that he came home to his intended wife and he asked her what was best to do or where to go. She told him the best place to hide was in the Chapel and his enemies would never think of looking there. He went to the Chapel and this was Xmas day. So for a long time he looked around at everything in the Chapel. And at last he thought he would lie down in the straw and so he did and he was still cold and he got up and to his amazement found that there was a coat around one of the statutes and he took it off the statues and lay down in the straw and covered himself with the coat so he slept
