Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Long ago people used to have a lot of cures for diseases when there were no doctors to be had.
    1. An old cure for a toothache is to rub a dead person's finger on your gum and the pain will cease.
    2. For an earache hold your head over a steaming kettle or teapot. Another cure is to bake hot salt in an oven, and tie it in a flannel cloth and apply it to the ear.
    3. For a sore heel or a sore toe, wax was often put on it for a cure.
    4. If you got a cut and if there was no fluid to be had, paraffin oil would take the soreness out of it.
    5. If you had a corn and if you put an ivy leaf on it, it would relieve you when walking.
    6. A good cure for a bleeding in the nose is to sniff some powdered starch or to sprinkle some cold water on the face.
    7. There are some herbs that have cures also, such as mouse-ear for chincough. Boil the weed and drink the water of it.
    8. There is a weed which grows in the ground, and it is good to put to a cut.
    9. An old cure for diarrhea is boiled nettles or the leaves of a briar boiled a vegetable.
