That I watched from behind a ditch alone as he did pass,
And with the gun I took his life returning home from mass.
God bless the men who did their best to get me my reprieve
And not to see a widow or an Orphan left in grief.

And if they have wives and families out from my heart I pray
That God may protect and guide, and watch over them night and day.
So now I am going to part this I have no more to say.
I hope good Christians one and all for my poor soul will pray.
