  1. Eggs are hatched mostly in the spring time, because the young fowl are more easily reared in summer than any other month. Eggs are not hatched before Christmas because the young fowl would be weak and hard to rear.
    Geese are fowl which only lay during the spring time and hatch their eggs then. They usually lay in March and April. A goose lays from ten to twenty eggs before hatching. Some geese lay thirty eggs or more but then do not "sit".
    When a goose is going to hatch she remains on the nest constantly.
    The woman of the house makes a big nest down on the ground in the corner of an outhouse, and puts the eggs under her. She leaves her there for four weeks which is the length of time she must hatch.
    When putting the eggs to hatch the housewife marks the eggs with pencil or a little soot. If the goose happens to lay when hatching, the unmarked egg will not produce a
