A certain man was going from Abbeyshrule to Ballymore one night. He was passing the ruins of an old house in Rath, about midnight, when a big turkey-cock appeared on the middle of the road before him. The bird clapped his wings three times and flew up into tree.
The man trembled all over, he began to sweat, but made the best of his way home. When he got inside his own door he fainted. He was put to bed, and he never rose again for he died a month after this strange occurrence. - As my aunt was passing by Ardagh church one night about twenty years ago, she saw a priest and two altar boys coming out of the church door and walking towards the gate. She was not frightened in the least.
