In warm weather milk ripens quickly My mother churns strangers who come in while the churning is being done are expected to put their hand to the dash before they go It is a belief that no butter would come on the milk if they did not It takes an hour to churn two crocks of milk The churning is done y hand You lift the dash up and down through the cream
