Ar an leathanach seo

  1. In olden times people had three meals a day, namely breakfast, dinner, and supper, Breakfast was at nine, dinner at one, and supper at seven o'clock.
    People worked in the morning before breakfast from six to eight o'clock.
    They ate porridge and tea for breakfast, potatoes, cabbage, bacon and oat bread for dinner, and porridge and sweet milk for supper.
    Potatoes were only eaten for dinner. Sweet milk and butter milk were drunk.
    When there was a crowd the table was put in the middle of the floor, and put beside the wall if there was not a crowd. The table was hung up out of the way when there was a dance in the room.
    Home-made wheaten bread and oat bread were eaten. The bread was made in a pot oven.
    The vegetables they ate were cabbage , parsnips, carrots, potatoes, and onions.
