- There was a man named Phil Coyle who lived near the village of Multyfarnham, Co. Westmeath. This man used to compose a number of poems. One of them was,
"Now all ye people who here are wise
Get home your turf when they are dry
Let you be filling and I'll be packing
And that's the way we will get home the turf from the bog of Lacken."
This information was given by Christopher Fagan aged about 45 years of Ballyvade, Bunbrusna Co. Westmeath.
- There was a poet living in Lacken, (B) Multyfarnham Co. Westmeath, long ago named Cúconnacht Ó Dálaigh. He lived in the monastory in Lacken, and at that time he was one of the principal poets in Ireland.
- There was another poet who lived in Lackenwood, Multyfarnham, Co. Westmeath. The poets name was John Garry, and he used to go about from house to house composing poetry or when anyone would get married he would compose poetry about them.
