- Pipers boreen strectches from Millmount Road through Ballinderry down to the banks of the canal.
The passengers travelled by fly-boats in that period. They were very light and dangerous. The remains of the harbour and the flags are still to be seen.
A piper lived in the boreen. He was called Colgan and who was not exact about his religion and made it a habit not to attend Sundays Mass. He played the pipes for the people who were waiting for the boat and they danced.
