Matches were made and fortunes were arranged by the parents in the home before the marriage. Money was given as dowry but never stock nor goods. We have no recollections of marriages taking place in the houses. Several customs were observed on the wedding day, such as, presents been given to the girl getting married. The man was supposed to enter the chaple first, as by that custom he was to live longer.
