- Long ago the houses were not built like now. The walls were made of mud. The floors were earthen floors. They had a fire on the hearth. The houses were low and thatched. They used ot get rafters in the nearest wood. They used to have a wooden chimney.
They had wooden beds with a cover over head. On this bed there were four wooden bed steads. This cover was made of cotton, with flowers mixed through it. It stretched from one stead to the other. These houses were all in the one; they had no rooms. They had only one window with one pane of glass in it. This window was in the fronth of the house. - Bailitheoir
