How we plant and store potatoes in this district.
The ground is ploughed in winter in order that the dirt would be killed by the frost. Then when the spring comes it is harrowed and cultivated and rolled with a roller to break the big lumps. Then it is chain-harrowed and the scutch is picked and burned.
Then the drills are opened by a double plough and the manure is put out in a row of heaps for every seven drills.
During the time of the tilling there is usually an old man cutting the seed. The early varieties such as british
