- Heavy Snow StormsThere was a big snow storms about six years ago.
It started to snow in the night and it kept snowing for three days and for three nights.
It remained on the ground for a forthnight.
A great many people lost their lives while they were away from home and were unable to return owing to the heavy blizard.
A lot of farmers lost a great many lambs and sheep, which they found dead when the snow was all melted.
Nearly all people had to stay indoors as they could not go out.
There were in some places where it drifted about twelve or thirteen feet of snow on the ground.
It was impossible for trains, lorries, motors and all other traffic to travell on the road. Some men were employed to clean away the snow off roads and railways so as to make passway for the train and traffic to pass.
The country shops were short of groceries(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
