- The Titanic sunk in midocean on her first trip to New York on April 14th, 1912.
She was built in Belfast and sailed for New York on a beautiful April morning from South Antrim to Qway.
There were rish and poor travelling on her.
Everyone was full of joy and hope.
She carried a crew of nine hundred.
The Captain was warned of an iceberg, but he ignored the warnings.
He said he would put up excessive speed and cut through, but hte iceberg cut through the ship and she began to leak and the waters came in. Captain Smith gave his distress signal to the wireless opporators who sent messages to ships near and far.
The Ship Captatrial was the first to receive the call and came in haste to the disabled ship, but was lost a few minutes to save all lives, as there was nothing left when she arrived but some people in the lifeboats.
There were a great many lives lost.Date: 20.10.38- Bailitheoir
