- Wednesday is considered a lucky day on which to be married. There is a little rhyme which tells what happens to you if you are married on such a day.

Friday for crosses
And Saturday no luck at all"
If the girl refused to marry him the man used to come on horseback and take her by force - Priests often said Mass at a cross in the wall above Plunkets. When there was a funeral the coffin used to be left down on the road in front of the cross. It was supposed that they would receive a blessing
