- There was a big snow storm in the year 1903. The snow remained on the hills for six weeks. It was six feet deep. School-boys made snowmen which remained standing on the ground for three weeks. There was a number of sheep lost in it. It levelled woods and trees and the roads were completely blocked with snow. There were sheds lifted with the wind. The townspeople had to dig their way from house to house because there was no way of travelling through it. There was a big wind with it also.
