- A Cobblers Disappointment There was once a cobbler who used to mend and sole boots. One day he went into the village to buy leather. He got the leather and he went home. There was a pot of water outside the door of his house and he put leather into it to soften it. Then he began his days work. That day when his mother was getting ready the dinner, she got the pot and she put potatoes into it. She did not notice the leather in the pot and she boiled it along with the potatoes.
