  1. In olden times Finea was famous for its fairs. Every year three fairs were held in the village and two horse and cattle fairs were held about 1/2 mile north of it in Kilgolagh village. The greatest day of all was St. Patrick's Day. There is an old verse written about this in Finea.
    " On St. Patrick's Day we'll be merry and gay. And we'll go to Finea in the morning. "
    On that morning and in every direction the sound of footsteps and the chatter of men's vocies could be heard on the roads leading to the village, because this was not only a fair day but a day of amusement and merriment for everyone. On each side of the street there were rows of standings of oranges, lemonade, Peggy's leg, and all kinds of refreshments. There were amusements of all kinds, too, There was ball throwing, in one corner weight
