- In Annesgrove, Tullyhill, Co Westmeath a house now owned by Joseph Lynch was haunted by three ghosts about 180 years ago. At that time people of the name of Strafford and Leakey owned it. A man named Lynch, a grandfather, of the present owner came to reside in it. He was a Catholic but it was impossible for him to live in the place. Every night the whole house was in turmoil: the ghosts spent the night playing pranks and running about the place.
Lynch told the story to Father Cullen, a very holy priest, who was parish priest in Abbeylara Co Longford and begged him to come and do something for him. At first he refused, but at length he agreed and appointed a certain evening to go to the place.
