  1. In olden times the people had many cures which are now Long forgotten. A cure for the mumps was to put a halter on the person and lead him around the pigsty saying. Maira Muina sen a go na teaca. A cure for the whooping cough was to drink milk that a ferret would drink from and a cure for a sty was to point nine gooseberry thorns at it three mornings one after another.
