- An Old SpinnerTold by Mrs William Smyth aged 50 years Grieve, Mountnugent, Co. Cavan.
There was once a woman named Kate McGinn who used earn her living by spinning. She lived in the town-land of Robuck and she used go from place to place spinning for the people.First she would get sheeps' wool and tease it. Then she would rub oil into it with her hands and get wool cards and card the wool into small rolls fit for spinning. When it be spun it would be much stronger than the wool we buy now in shops and it would be much coarser when knit and much warmer.Mairsil Ní Gabann- Bailitheoir
