In the year 1901 there lived in the poorest part of Dungimmon a boy named Danny Mahoney and his sister who was ill for a long time.
Danny was a good-natured boy and his sister's illness was breaking his heart. After a long illness his loving sister died leaving poor Danny alone in the world.
Work was bad and Danny was poor and he decided he would do some fishing in a little lake called Lough Red which lies in a valley in the County Meath.
One day as Danny was thinking over the death of his loving sister sitting by the edge of the Lough he could not help noticing the beautiful green grass bedecked with all lovely flowers and the lovely green furze covered the hill above the Lough
