- 1. There is a small lake nestling in a hollow amongst green hills situated about two miles north east of this school. It is called Loch Ruadh, it is often confused with Loch Craoibhe, from which this school takes its name. The water in the former lake is renowned as a cure for 'the rose' (a red running sore). A friend of the affected person goes to the lake and takes a bottle full of water along with some of the shingle from the bottom of the lake. The water has to be poured on the sore, and the shingle rubbed to it.
People come from all parts for the water and it has never been knowing to fail, but in order to ensure success the person to be cured must have a father and mother living.
