  1. No marriages hardly take place in this part of the country in Lent or Advent. Lent weddings are said to be unlucky.
    During the pagan times there were many old customs which still remain in the country such as tying an old boot to the wedding carriage and shaking of rice on the Bride and Bridegroom.     The Bridegroom must not see his Bride in her wedding dress before she stands with him at the altar, and she should not look at herself in a mirror after her toilet is completed but case she should be tempted to break this rule and temptations are very common. She
