    The kind of bread that was eaten in olden times was oaten meal bread. Stampy, Boxty, and potato bread. They had wheaten bread which they made from their own wheat. They wetted the bread with water and they called the leaven bread. They baked the bread every day on a griddle. Sometimes they baked it in front of the fire standing up against a wire or a stone. They called it a rest. They made the griddle bread for no other occassion only for to eat it every day.
