  2. Many years ago there lived a man in Wilkinstown, in about the same place that the home of Laurence Crahan is now situated. He had a wife and four children but he got hard to support them as he was very poor. He became discontented, too, as he used to dream that if he went to the "Bridge of London" he would obtain a fortune. He dreamed this so often that he became convinced of its truth. He toiled and saved until he had enough money to take him to London, and then despite all his wife's protests he started on his journey.
