    Old Prayers - told by Mrs. Keoghan, Ballyadams:
    Down I lay my head to rest;
    I pray to God to be my guide;
    But if I die before I wake
    I pray to God my soul to take.
    There are four corners in this bed
    And four bright angels round my head;
    Matthew, Mark, Luke and John,
    Bless the bed that I lay on.
    A prayer for a Toothache:
    As St. Peter sat on a marble stone,
    Who came up but Christ alone,
    Saying: "What ails thee, Peter?
    And what makes thee ache?"
    "My Lord, I am bad with a toothache."
    "Arise then, Peter, be thou healed,
    Not you alone but all those
    Who say these few lines for my sake
    Shall never be troubled with a toothache."
    A Prayer said when there is lightning:
    The cross is my certain salvation
    The cross that I always adore
    The cross and my Lord be with me
    Now and forever more.
    A Prayer said when Going to Bed:
    Little Jesus, meek and mild,
    Look on me, Thy little child.
