The people of this district are usually very busy on Easter Saturday. It is the custom to have a piece of an early lamb on Easter Sunday. People eat many eggs on Easter Sunday. The woman of the house puts sixpence on the table. She then ties coloured pieces of cloth round the eggs. She puts the eggs in a pot and boils them. The eggs will then turn the colour of the cloth. Whoever eats the most eggs get the sixpence. We have this custom because long ago the lent was very strict and the people were not allowed any eggs and so they thought it a great thing to eat plenty of eggs on Easter Sunday.It is the custom with most people to got to Fairyhouse races on Easter Monday.
