  1. The 7th son has a cure for the running evil. When the baby was born a live worm was put in it's hand and left there until it died.
A man called John Brien who lived about ½ mile from the school had this cure.
Afflicted persons came between sunset and sunrise. The patient had to stand on an earthen floor while the healer breathed on the sore and said certain prayers.
This man is dead for 16 years. He was a sort of an amateur vetinary surgeon. He was locally called "The doctor" and had a knack of curing sick animals.
Septic finger or Burst as it is locally called is cured by a Miss Connell, Railway St., Navan.
I know that anyone so affected in this neighbourhood goes to her for the cure.
She mixes some herb in a linseed poultice which draws out the root of the trouble.
She wont attend any finger which the doctor has already lanced or opened.
