They spend the pennies they get sweets
Ladies who washed their faces on May morning with dew before sunrise were assured of a good complexion for the remainder of the year.
Meadow sweet steeped in buttermilk was supposed to remove freckles.
    Cure for warts
Get 9 small potatoes. Make the sign of the cross on 8 of them & throw the 9th away. Rub the warts with the 8 and then bury them in a wet place.
When the potatoes rot the warts will disappear.
