  1. People say that the fairy queen is to be seen in Mr. Walsh's Monkeens at the fourhills. A boy named Larry Rock who is now a man when going across the field saw her. He was going through the field and suddenly there appeared before him in the opposite field a beautiful girl with long golden hair.
She never saw him until he was in the field. When she saw him she immediately turned into an old woman gathering a few sticks. She didn't know that he had seen her as the queen. That was the only time she had been seen in daylight but people know she lives there.

  2. There was a man named Peter Walsh going home from the Patron of Ardcath one night. It was near midnight when he started to go home. As he was crossing the fields he saw a fairy ring and a crowd of fairies kicking football. As he came up nearer the fairies drove him into the ring and told him to kick football with them.
After a while they stopped kicking football and two fairies produced two flutes. They began playing grand music. Then the fairies taking hands danced around him until dawn when they all disappeared.
Some people found him lying in the field unable to use arms or legs. There was nothing left of the fairies except the fairy ring.
