- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)travelling from Slane to Tara his followers became thirty and the Saint commanded water to rise at this spot where the well has been ever since. The water of the well is supposed to cure toothache. Local people do not use the water for household purposes because the water when boiled has a very ugly taste. It tastes well, however when drunk in its natural tate. Beside the well there is a stone which has a mark of a man’s hand on it, the palm and fingers being quite discernible.
A remarkable story told about this well. The field in which the well is situated was once owned by a Protestant. He tried to stop people from visit the well but having failed to do so he poisoned the water. The poison, however, flowed in the stream from the well. This stream watered some of the land owned by the gentleman already referred to and his cattle were all poisoned.
