Ar an leathanach seo

  1. People long ago started to wear boots at much the same age as they do nowadays, that is at one or two years of age. There are not accounts of people who never wore boots or shoes.
Many of the local boys go barefooted in Summer and sometimes in Autumn. There are no customs connected with the water the feet are washed in, and so it is thrown out.
There are two men in this locality who repair boots, one of them also makes boots, his name is Pat Gallagher and the other man's name is Joe Byrne
Joe Byrne was not always a cobbler. When he was young he used to fish for a local family, but when he was a while at this he got rheumatic pains. Then he turned his hands to the shoe repairing and this work seemed to suit him better. He is still repairing shoes and does a great trade.
